Total revamp of existing public spaces, wine cellar, restaurant, cafe and forest garden
Introduction
ReDress was referred to Warwick Wine Estate after having renovated the guest houses at Marianne Wine Estate nearby. The interiors of the main building at Warwick were uninviting and didn’t encourage guests to come in and explore and so we were called in to help! After our first site visit, we felt that the interiors didn’t echo the bright, light, fun branding and colour scheme that had been developed for the brand and we realised that visitors tended to predominantly conduct their wine tasting experience outside which resulted in them missing the deli and retail space.
Other points we wanted to address;
- The paved flooring was dark and unattractive
- The space was vast and the venue felt too large for smaller events and weddings – it lacked flexibility to adapt to different occasions
- The interior space was non-descript and did not attract indoor dining
- The area around the entrance and the entrance itself was lacking visual appeal and in turn there was little to encourage visitors to step inside.
- Visitors were less likely to consider visiting Warwick Wine Estate when the weather was less favourable.
We also concluded that this project really warranted bespoke furniture designed specifically for Warwick. We didn’t want to buy off-the-shelf furniture. We wanted this project to be 100% unique and therefore set about designing indoor and outdoor restaurant furniture with our trusted furniture manufacturing suppliers in and around Cape Town to create beautiful bespoke pieces designed for purpose that you won’t see anywhere else!
Client brief
- To re-design the interiors of the main wine tasting room, deli and forest courtyard for a more enticing first impression and to promote lasting memories.
- To build curiosity at the main entrance to encourage visitors to be drawn inside the building.
- To enhance the interior and exterior spaces offering a more varied selection of different experiences that promote more extensive word-of-mouth marketing and significantly more memorable encounters at Warwick Wine Estate.
Outcome
- We produced a design proposal that created a variety of different experiences for visitors through clever design and use of colour
- We designed schemes that featured repeated branding consistency throughout
- We enhanced the main entrance in order to entice visitors to explore inside
- We improved the layout of the space inside with clever space planning techniques and flexible zoning
- We lightened up and make the space more inviting, friendly and less austere
- We produced a space that reflects the elegance of the superior wines produced by Warwick Wine Estate
- We designed a space that creates lasting memories & elegant stories
- We designed schemes “…with unforgettable distinction”.
Client comments
“It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Helene-Marie on the re-design of Warwick’s Tasting Room and Forest Courtyard. The carefully curated furniture pieces together with a lovely colour scheme for the materials delivered a fresh, modern look, while at the same time being practical for a high-traffic environment. Helen-Marie provided excellent service, from drawings, quotations, cost- and time management as well as interaction with external suppliers and service providers. The final installation took place exactly as planned in terms of timing and budget. What I appreciated most about Helene-Marie’s work is the fact that she thoroughly considered the design as well the realities of a restaurant environment to ensure a perfect alignment between the look and the functionality. Great job!” Christiana von Arnim – CEO Warwick Wines
